Severe Air Pollution in the Ahwaz Region; 16 Cities Placed Under Red and Orange Alerts

The Mehr News Agency reported that on the morning of Thursday, 6 Azar 1404 (27 November 2025), air quality levels in 16 cities across Ahwaz region reached red and orange alert status, once again triggering serious concerns over hazardous pollution in the province.

According to data from the IRAN-AQ Air Quality Monitoring System at 8:00 am, the cities of Abadan, Ahwaz, Behbahan, Karun, Mohammerah, Khafajiyeh, Fallahiyeh , Ma’shour, Mollasani, and Hoveyzeh were classified as red, indicating “unhealthy air for all population groups.”

Meanwhile, the cities of Aghajari, Omidiyeh, Andimeshk, Dezful, and Tostar were placed under orange status, meaning the air is “unhealthy for sensitive groups.”

Health authorities have urged the elderly, children, individuals with heart or respiratory conditions, and other vulnerable groups to avoid extended outdoor activity. Residents are advised to limit exposure to polluted air as much as possible.
