Iranian Security Forces Raid Home of Ilia Ben Rashid’s Grandmother Following Exposé on His Case

According to reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization, following the publication of an exclusive interview with Ilia Ben Rashid’s uncle, the political prisoner sentenced to death, the Iranian security forces (IRGC) raided his grandmother’s home in Shahin Shahr, interrogating family members and conducting searches.

Additionally, Ilia Ben Rashid’s lawyer was detained for several hours by the Iranian intelligence and security apparatus.

Ilia Ben Rashid, a 23-year-old Arab protester residing in Shahin Shahr, has been sentenced to death, over four years in prison, and additional penalties by the Fifth Branch of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court.

According to judicial documents and statements from his uncle in an interview with the Karoon Human Rights Organization, the IRGC’s report was the primary basis for these sentences. After being released on bail, Ilia was re-arrested and tried without access to his chosen lawyer.

The raid on the family home and the temporary detention of the lawyer have heightened concerns regarding increased security pressures on Ilia’s family and associates, especially as the threat of executing Ilia Ben Rashid’s sentence remains imminent.
