Threats Against the Wife of “Ahmad Naseri” Following Disclosure of His Medical Neglect and Coma in “Sepidar” Prison

According to human rights sources in Ahwaz and close family members, the wife of Ahmad Naseri, a 36-year-old prisoner in Sepidar Prison, Ahwaz, has been threatened by prison officials after filing a formal complaint regarding her husband’s denial of medical treatment.

Ahmad Naseri, son of Hato, married with three daughters and a resident of Kuy-e Harsheh in Kut Abdullah, was arrested in August 2025 on charges of “participation in a group fight” by the law enforcement forces and transferred to Sepidar Prison.

Family members report that a few days ago, Naseri’s health deteriorated severely, and he remained unconscious on the prison floor for over three hours, despite repeated requests from fellow prisoners for immediate hospital transfer. Following persistent family intervention and their in-person visit, Naseri was finally transferred to Khomeini Hospital in Ahwaz, where he is now in the intensive care unit in a coma, and his condition is described as critical.

The family denies claims by some officials that Naseri attempted suicide, emphasizing that his current condition is the direct result of medical negligence and deliberate denial of treatment.

In connection with this case, Sepidar Prison officials summoned Naseri’s wife and warned her that continued legal or media advocacy could lead to “serious consequences.”

The Naseri family has called on the Judiciary, the Prison Organization, and oversight bodies to investigate immediately, publicly release the details of the case, and take legal action against those responsible.

As of this report, no official from Ahwaz prisons or the provincial judiciary has commented. Sources close to the family say that after the matter became public, the head of Sepidar Prison visited Ahmad Naseri in Khomeini Hospital.

Previously, Amir Nisi, an Arab political prisoner born in 1998 who spent six years in wards 8 and 5 of Sheiban Prison, Ahwaz, died on the evening of Tuesday, 27 Aban 1404 (17 November 2025) due to a severe internal infection and lack of medical care.

According to information received by the Karun Human Rights Organization, Nisi, who had been sentenced to 15 years by the Ahwaz Revolutionary Court (Judge Mohammadi) for alleged links to extremist groups, suffered from chronic health problems. Due to denial of adequate medical treatment, he developed a widespread infection, and despite high fever and rapid health deterioration, prison authorities refused to transfer him to external medical facilities in time.

Human rights activists have identified Khosrow Tarfi, known as the “Executioner of Sheiban Prison,” as one of the main officials responsible for the oppressive environment and systematic neglect of medical care in this facility.
