Political Prisoner Mokhtar Al-Boshokh Transferred to Sheiban Prison After 19-Day Hunger Strike

Reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization indicate that Mokhtar Al-Boshokh, an Arab political prisoner, was transferred back to Sheiban Prison in Ahwaz today, Thursday, November 7. He is currently held in the quarantine section of the prison. His transfer comes amid serious concerns regarding his health due to complications from a prolonged hunger strike and underlying health issues.

Hunger Strike Ends Following Transfer Demand Fulfillment

According to documented information from the Karoon Human Rights Organization, Mokhtar Al-Boshokh ended his hunger strike on Friday, October 21, after 19 days, following assurances from relevant authorities that his demands would be addressed. He had initiated the hunger strike on October 6 in protest against the failure of security officials to transfer him from Arak Prison to Sheiban Prison in Ahwaz. With his transfer today, this demand has been met.

Health Crisis and Denial of Medical Services

Reports indicate that this political prisoner is still unable to eat due to severe gastrointestinal issues resulting from the hunger strike, having lost at least 10 kilograms during this period. Mokhtar Al-Boshokh’s health had previously been reported as critical due to multiple illnesses, including kidney problems and hernia. Despite his deteriorating condition and urgent need for medical care, he remains deprived of adequate medical services and transfer to specialized treatment facilities while in quarantine at Sheiban Prison.

The Karoon Human Rights Organization expresses deep concern for Mokhtar Al-Boshokh’s health in Sheiban Prison, stating that the denial of medical access to ill prisoners constitutes a clear case of torture and a blatant violation of human rights. The organization demands the immediate transfer of this political prisoner to a specialized hospital outside the prison for comprehensive medical treatment.
