Since the beginning of 2025, the Islamic regime in Iran has executed at least 1,000 people. Just last week, 64 executions were recorded — an average of more than nine per day.
Iran Human Rights emphasized that most of these executions were for drug-related charges and were carried out after summary trials lasting only a few minutes in Revolutionary Courts, constituting “crimes against humanity.”
Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the organization’s director, warned that the Islamic regime is using executions as a political tool to instill fear and maintain control over society. He called for an urgent international response and for the UN Human Rights Council’s fact-finding mission to investigate these killings.
The report also noted that only 11 percent of the executions have been announced in domestic media, and none of the drug-related executions have been officially reported.
