Four members of the Teachers’ Trade Union Association in the Ahwaz region (Khuzestan Province), who have faced judicial pressure due to their trade union and civil activities, have been summoned to the appeals court to contest the verdicts issued against them.
Ali Koroushat, Koukab Badaghi, Pirouz Nami, and Siamak Sadeghi Chehrrazi were previously tried in a joint case before a lower court, where they were sentenced to one year of discretionary imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state” and five years of discretionary imprisonment on charges of “assembly and collusion against national security.”
The four union activists have been ordered to appear on Saturday, December 6, before Branch 20 of the Ahwaz Province Appeals Court.
The Coordination Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations has expressed its support for the summoned teachers, emphasizing that their activities were lawful and conducted within the framework of legitimate trade union rights. The council has called for the annulment of security-related verdicts and an end to the criminalization and judicial targeting of teachers.
In recent years, pressure on teachers’ trade unions across Iran has intensified, with numerous educators facing security charges for participating in peaceful protests and pursuing professional and labor-related demands.
