On Tuesday, December 23, and Saturday, December 27, 2025, two prisoners held at Qanitra Prison (Dezful)—Emad Assef, 38, and Siroos Karami—were executed. Both individuals had previously been sentenced to death (qisas) by criminal courts on charges of premeditated murder.
An informed source told Iran Human Rights that Emad Assef was a resident of Dezful and had been arrested approximately four years ago. The identity of Siroos Karami has also been confirmed by the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA). As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant official bodies have issued no formal announcement regarding these executions.
Additionally, on Thursday, December 25, 2025, two other prisoners—Morad Karimi Goleh and Norouz Khalafi (also reported as Norouzi Khalafi)—were executed at Taster Prison (Shushtar) on charges of premeditated murder.
These executions reflect the continued escalation in the implementation of death sentences in Iran, a trend that has drawn serious concern from human rights organizations amid ongoing public protests.
