In recent days, the death sentences of four citizens in the Ahwaz region have been carried out in different prisons on charges of intentional murder.
According to reports, in the early hours of Sunday, December 14, 2025, Mansour Ghaneh, a 30-year-old resident of Ahwaz, was executed in Sepidar Prison. He had been arrested approximately five years earlier on charges of intentional murder and was subsequently sentenced to death.
Additionally, in the early hours of Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Kazem Zaheri was executed in Behbahan Prison. The charge brought against him was also reported as intentional murder. On the same day, Mehdi Ghorbani was hanged in Ma’shour (Mahshahr) Prison. He had previously been arrested on murder charges and sentenced to death.
Separately, according to the Iran Human Rights Organization, another execution was carried out on the morning of Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Dezful Prison. The individual was identified as Arsalan Arab, a 32-year-old resident of Dezful, who had been sentenced to qisas (retribution in kind) for intentional murder. According to an informed source, he had been arrested around five years earlier following a street altercation and had been working as a building electrician prior to his detention.
These executions are part of the continued implementation of the death penalty in Iran, a practice that has drawn growing concern and criticism from human rights organizations in recent weeks. Reports indicate that some of these sentences have been carried out amid serious doubts regarding full compliance with fair trial standards.
