In the early hours of Wednesday, 28 Aban 1404 (18 November 2025), the death sentence of a prisoner previously convicted of murder was carried out at Behbahan Prison.
According to HRANA news agency, the identity of the executed prisoner has been confirmed as Fardin Khani. He was sentenced to death by the Criminal Court following his arrest on murder charges. Despite the execution, Behbahan prison authorities and official institutions have not publicly confirmed the case.
According to annual statistics compiled by Iranian human rights activists, between 10 October 2024 and 8 October 2025, at least 1,537 prisoners were executed in Iran. This represents an 86.07% increase compared to the same period the previous year. However, only about 5.86% of these executions were officially announced, reflecting a lack of transparency, systemic secrecy, and absence of accountability mechanisms in Iran’s execution process.
