Continued Denial of Medical Leave: Deteriorating Physical Condition of Hossein Sobhan Nasari in Sheiban Prison

Hossein Sobhan Nasari, a religious prisoner held in Sheiban Prison in Ahwaz, is currently serving the fifth year of his eight-year sentence. Despite suffering from several physical health conditions, he has been denied medical leave and adequate access to medical care. People close to the prisoner maintain that the charges brought against him are fabricated and baseless.

According to informed sources, Hossein Sobhan Nasari born on September 6, 1992, and a resident of Ramshir County (Khalafieh), was arrested by security forces in 2020 and subsequently transferred to prison. He was later sentenced by the Revolutionary Court to a total of eight years in prison on charges including “insulting the Supreme Leader” and other alleged offenses, including purported links to opposition groups.

Mr. Nasari’s family has categorically rejected these allegations, stating that the case against him was fabricated and that he is solely a religious prisoner who has been subjected to unfounded charges.

A member of the prisoner’s family, referring to the unfair judicial process and the obstacles they have faced in pursuing his case, stated:

“Over the past five years, we have repeatedly gone to the Revolutionary Court, but we were allowed to enter and pursue his case only twice. Even on those occasions, instead of providing answers, court officials avoided addressing his situation by simply attaching political and security-related labels to Hossein.”

According to this report, during the five years he has been held in Sheiban Prison in Ahwaz, Mr. Nasari has suffered from severe back pain as well as gum and dental problems. Despite his deteriorating physical condition, prison authorities and the judicial authorities have so far refused to grant him even a single day of medical leave.

It is reported that over the years, the prisoner has submitted numerous letters and requests from inside the prison to the court, seeking medical leave. However, the Revolutionary Court has repeatedly rejected all of his requests.
