According to received reports and eyewitness testimony, Mehdi Mohammadi Kartelai, a 16-year-old teenager, was shot dead by direct fire from Islamic Republic security forces on Friday, January 9, 2026, in the Saheb al-Zaman Road area of Tostar (Shushtar) County.
Local sources state that Mehdi Mohammadi was standing near a motorcycle repair shop when he was shot from behind. Witnesses emphasize that IRGC forces opened fire using live military weapons.
The teenager’s burial ceremony was held under severe security restrictions. According to reports, his body was handed over to the family at 6:00 a.m., and security forces ordered that the funeral be conducted as quickly as possible. The family and relatives were explicitly forbidden from public and were threatened that the body would not be released if these orders were violated.
Eyewitnesses also report widespread gunfire using pellet shotguns, Kalashnikov rifles, and other military weapons against civilians and young people. One eyewitness stated:
“That same day, on Saheb al-Zaman Road in Shushtar, I personally saw more than eight lifeless bodies. Everyone was being shot with live ammunition.”
