According to reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization, a number of Ahwazi Arab political prisoners held in Ward 5 of Sheyban Prison in Ahwaz have been granted a 10-day medical leave after posting heavy bail, set at 10 billion tomans (approximately 200,000 USD) each.
According to the report, Mohammad Ali Amouri, Abdul Imam Zaeri, and Yahya Naseri (all sentenced to life imprisonment), as well as Saeed Saeedaei (sentenced to 15 years in prison), are among those who have been granted this leave.
The Karoon Human Rights Organization had previously warned about the alarming conditions in Ward 5 of Sheyban Prison, stating that the detention of more than 113 political prisoners in a limited and non-standard space lacking basic sanitary and human conditions has led to serious physical and psychological problems among inmates.
According to the report, the lack of natural light and insufficient space for exercise have caused issues such as vitamin D deficiency, skin diseases, and psychological disorders among prisoners. The exercise yard of the ward, reported to be approximately 6.5 by 13 meters, is completely inadequate for the current population, depriving inmates of basic daily activities, including physical movement and proper rest.
Furthermore, limited access to sunlight and inadequate facilities for drying clothes has led to the continuous use of damp clothing, which in the long term increases the risk of skin diseases and other health complications. Reports indicate that symptoms of such conditions have been observed among many prisoners.
