Statement by 13 Human Rights Organisations Condemning the Execution of Six Ahwazi Arab Political Prisoners

We, the undersigned human rights organisations, express our profound sorrow and deep regret over the unlawful and tragic execution of six Ahwazi Arab political prisoners by the Islamic Republic of Iran at dawn on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Sepidar Prison in Ahwaz.

This act, carried out under the order of judicial authorities and reportedly in the absence of any fair trial, constitutes a blatant violation of the right to life and a grave disregard for the fundamental principles of international human rights law.

According to reliable reports, Ali MojadamMoein KhanfariSeyed Salem MousaviMohammadreza MoghaddamAdnan Albushokeh (Ghabishavi), and Habib Dris, after years of torture, prolonged imprisonment, and denial of access to independent legal counsel and a fair trial, were secretly executed without prior notice to their families or even their court-appointed lawyers.

Furthermore, in clear violation of the law, the bodies of these prisoners have not yet been handed over to their bereaved families, and the burial sites remain undisclosed — a further violation of human dignity and the rights of their loved ones.

Reports from domestic sources also indicate that security forces have threatened and intimidated the victims’ families and tribal elders, prohibiting them from holding any mourning, funeral, or condolence ceremonies. In some cases, even the recitation of the Qur’an and the observance of religious rituals in the victims’ villages and local mosques have been banned. The Karun Human Rights Organisation has independently verified this information through local sources.

These repressive measures, carried out within the framework of systematic policies of discrimination and intimidation against the Ahwazi Arab community, reflect the authorities ongoing security-driven and inhumane approach toward the civil and political demands of the people of this region.

We also express serious concern over the Islamic Republic of Iran recent attempts to justify these executions by falsely accusing the victims of “links with Israel” and “espionage.” It must be emphasized that these prisoners had been incarcerated since 2018 and 2019, and none of these charges had ever appeared in their official case files.

This media campaign, taking place in the tense regional atmosphere following the twelve-day war, is an evident effort to legitimize repression and divert public attention from the reality of political executions in Ahwaz.

The undersigned human rights organisations strongly condemn these mass executions and call on the international community and relevant institutions to exert effective pressure on the Iranian government to end the ongoing political executions and the systematic violation of the rights of the Ahwazi Arab people.
