According to reports received by the Karun Human Rights Organization, Arvand Petrochemical in Ma’shour has issued a notice informing its employees that beginning on 9 Azar 1404 (30 November 2025), bringing mobile phones into the facility will be restricted exclusively to non-smartphones. According to this notice, the use of smartphones inside the workplace will only be permitted with authorization from the company’s security unit and solely in exceptional circumstances.
The notice states that only the company’s president and senior managers will be allowed to use smartphones inside the facility.
Employees of Arvand Petrochemical told Karun that this restriction was imposed following the 12-day Iran–Israel conflict, and that no such policy had existed prior to that period. According to them, the stated purpose of this new rule appears to be preventing the recording of videos or images of the petrochemical installations.
They added that since the conflict, the company’s security forces have even prohibited workers from taking selfies at the workplace or making video calls with their families.
