“Seyed Meysam Mousavi”, Ahwazi Arab Resident of Parand, Killed by Security Forces’ Gunfire

ccording to received reports, Seyed Meysam Mousavi, a 31-year-old Ahwazi Arab and a resident of Parand city, Tehran Province, was shot directly by the Iranian regime’s security forces around midnight on Thursday, 8 January 2026, while returning home near the Parand shopping center. He was struck by both pellet and live ammunition and was severely wounded.

He was killed the following day, 9 January, due to the severity of his injuries and heavy bleeding, while hospitalized.

Meysam was married and the father of a seven-year-old daughter. He owned a furniture shop in Parand and, during the January 2026 protests, had closed his shop in solidarity with the merchants’ strike.

Informed sources reported that one bullet hit his thigh, another passed through his lower back, and the lower part of his body was heavily struck by pellets. Neighbors found his wounded body and informed his family.

Out of fear of arrest, Meysam’s family kept him at home until morning and then transferred him to a private hospital. After surgery, he briefly regained consciousness and reportedly said, “Bring my daughter so I can see her,” but he was killed before seeing her.

The body of Seyed Meysam Mousavi was buried at Behesht-e Rezvan Cemetery in Parand.

Parand is located 33 kilometers southwest of Tehran, in Rabat Karim County. In recent years, many Arab families from the Ahwaz region (Khuzestan) have migrated to this city due to harsh environmental conditions and in search of employment.
