The protest by dismissed workers of the Fallahieh (Shadegan) Steel Company, together with their families and young children, is continuing.
With the new school year approaching, the families of these workers are facing severe financial hardship. Many are struggling even to cover the cost of school registration and purchase basic school supplies for their children.
The workers, who are demanding reinstatement and the ability to meet the minimum living expenses of themselves and their families, have so far received no clear response from the relevant authorities and company managers.
During the protest, the workers’ children also spoke about the difficult circumstances facing their families and their concerns about being able to continue their education.
One of the children, referring to the dismissal of his father and his father’s colleagues from Fallahieh Steel Company, said that his family could not afford the costs of school registration and purchasing the necessary school supplies.
Other children also spoke about the uncertainty facing their families and their inability to cover the costs of their education.
The Karoon Human Rights Organization condemns the failure of officials and the management of Fallahieh (Shadegan) Steel Company to address the demands of the dismissed workers and the severe financial hardship facing their families. The organization calls for the workers’ demands to be addressed immediately, for their reinstatement, and for their employment and livelihood rights to be guaranteed.
