Failure to comply with safety standards and the lack of personal protective equipment have once again resulted in a fatal workplace accident. A 42-year-old worker at the Fajr Energy Complex in Ras al-Mina (Sarbandar) lost his life after falling from a height at his workplace.
According to reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, September 12, 2026 , Hossein Alboghobeish, a 42-year-old Ahwazi Arab worker employed at the Fajr Energy Complex in Sarbandar, suffered an accident while carrying out his duties and died after falling from a height.
According to the Alboghbiesh family, the tragic incident was a direct result of negligence by the management and contractors of the complex in providing personal protective equipment and complying with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
The sudden death of the worker has left his family in an extremely vulnerable and critical situation. His wife and only child, a four-year-old suffering from polio and requiring continuous and costly medical care, are now left without a breadwinner or financial support.
The absence of effective social security support and the refusal of contracting companies to assume their legal responsibilities have placed the life and health of this sick child at serious risk.
The Karoon Human Rights Organization expresses its condolences to the bereaved family and calls for the immediate intervention of international and human rights bodies. The organization calls for an independent and impartial investigation, legal prosecution and accountability for the managers responsible for negligence in complying with workplace safety standards, and the payment of full legally mandated compensation to the bereaved family.
