According to reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization, Mohammad-Jafar Aramishi (Hamid Jaderi), also known as “Abu Tareq,” an Arab Ahwazi civil rights activist, has been transferred to Ward 5 of Sheiban Prison in Ahwaz after being held for more than three months in a detention facility operated by the Ministry of Intelligence.
According to the report, Mr. Jaderi was transferred to Sheiban Prison while his family had remained unaware of his condition and whereabouts throughout the preceding months, effectively being denied the right to know what had happened to him.
Hamid Jaderi, who is approximately 60 years old, had previously been arrested because of his civil activities and spent several years in Karoon Prison in Ahwaz.
The Karoon Human Rights Organization has expressed concern over the continued detention and treatment of Hamid Jaderi. It considers depriving his family of information about his condition and whereabouts for months to be a violation of the fundamental rights of detainees and condemns the measure.
The organization also called for Mr. Jaderi’s legal rights to be respected, his access to a fair trial to be ensured, and for him to be allowed to meet with his family and chosen lawyer. It further called for an end to violations of the rights of political prisoners in Iran.
