According to reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization, Ariya Sheikhi-Nasab, a civil rights activist and political and media activist who had been held in Ward 5 of Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, was granted temporary leave on Saturday, June 20, after posting bail of 10 billion tomans (approximately USD $238,000).
Sheikh-Nasab was arrested during the nationwide unrest in December 2025. According to the report, he was detained by security forces at his private residence in Masjed Soleyman on February 25, 2026, and was subsequently transferred to Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz on March 1, 2026. He was later transferred to Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz.
Some reports have also indicated that he was subjected to violence during his arrest and that he remained in legal limbo for several months following his detention.
