According to reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization, coinciding with the internet blackout in Iran, Ahwazi human rights sources reported that intelligence forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a wave of arrests across various parts of the Ahwaz region (Khuzestan), including the city of Ahwaz and the Kut Abdollah area.
According to the report, dozens of Ahwazi Arab Sunni citizens, including Abdulmajid Silawi, were arrested and transferred to IRGC-run solitary confinement detention centers. Informed sources stated that, following interrogation and exposure to physical and psychological pressure, the detainees were later transferred to Sheyban Central Prison in Ahwaz.
The report further states that these arrests intensified after Eid al-Fitr while internet access was severely restricted. Many of those detained have reportedly been accused of engaging in religious activities, including holding congregational prayers and organizing Eid celebrations.
The published list of detainees includes Mohammad Hezbawi, Fares Abu Mohammad, Mohammad Samiri, Karim Samiri, Saeed Samiri, Abu Masoud Badawi, Abu Yasser Hezbawi, Abdulmajid Silawi, Adel Al-Boughbish, Uday Hindali, Suhaib Zubaidi, Karim Majdam, and Nader Zubaidi.
According to these sources, all of the detainees are married and have children, and they have been denied family visits for more than one month.
These arrests come amid heightened security measures during escalating military tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States, with the security environment becoming particularly severe in the Ahwaz region.
The Karoon Human Rights Organization condemned the arrests, describing them as a clear violation of civil rights and freedom of religion, and called for the immediate release of all detainees and an end to the ongoing crackdown.
