“Fouad Safi”, an Ahwazi Arab Citizen, Killed by Direct Fire from Iranian Regime Security Forces During “Fooladshahr” Protests

Fouad Safi, an Ahwazi Arab citizen originally from Abadan and a resident of Fooladshahr in Isfahan Province, was killed on the evening of January 8, 2026, during nationwide protests, after being directly shot by Iranian regime security forces.

According to received reports, the bullet struck his neck and right shoulder, causing severe destruction to those areas. The type and location of the injuries clearly indicate deliberate and direct gunfire.

Following the killing, state authorities, instead of providing accountability, kept his family in complete uncertainty for four days. On January 12, only his wife was informed to collect and bury his body, without any official explanation regarding the cause of death.

At the same time, local sources reported that security agencies pressured and threatened the family in an attempt to force them to declare a “pre-existing medical condition” as the cause of death. This repeated narrative is commonly used to erase evidence of gunfire, absolve perpetrators of responsibility, and conceal the truth.

The psychological pressure imposed on grieving families constitutes a clear violation of human rights under international law and may amount to psychological torture, in violation of the UN Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
