Karun Human Rights Organization: Iranian Regime Storing Weapons Inside Schools in the Ahwaz Region (Khuzestan)

According to reports received by the Karun Human Rights Organization, security forces of the Iranian regime have been concealing and storing weapons and military equipment inside storage facilities of several schools in the Ahwaz region, an action that seriously endangers the lives of students and educational staff.

These measures have reportedly taken place amid rising regional tensions and an increased risk of military confrontation involving Iran, intensifying concerns that educational institutions are being used as military cover or weapons depots.

Reports indicate that such cases have been documented particularly in the cities of Ahwaz, Abadan , Khalafiya (Ramshir), and Khafajiya (Susangerd). Local sources stress that the militarization of schools constitutes a grave violation of children’s rights, fundamental human rights principles, and Iran’s international obligations to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The Karun Human Rights Organization has expressed serious concern over these developments and has called for the immediate cessation of these practices, the removal of all military equipment from educational facilities, and accountability for the responsible authorities.
