According to reports received by the Karun Human Rights Organization, Mokhtar Alboshoukeh and Nazem Breihi, two Ahwazi Arab political prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, were exiled on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from Sheiban Prison in Ahwaz to Arak Prison.
This transfer took place while Mokhtar Alboshoukeh, who has been serving a life sentence since 2011, has been imprisoned continuously for over a decade in Sheiban Prison and the former Karun Prison without a single day of leave. He suffers from a hernia, and reports indicate that recent torture inflicted by the Public Security Police (VAPA/FAJA) as part of a newly fabricated case has led to severe infection and a serious deterioration in his physical condition.
Nazem Breihi, the other Ahwazi Arab political prisoner serving a life sentence since 2005, ended a hunger strike on Sunday, December 21, after ten days, following promises made by security authorities that his name would be included in a list for pardon or sentence reduction.
According to the report, during the hunger strike, a representative of the Ministry of Intelligence met with the prisoner twice and assured him and his co-defendants that they would be considered for pardon or sentence reduction.
Informed sources state that Nazem Breihi’s physical condition remains critical. He has reportedly lost more than 10 kilograms and is in a severe and unstable health condition.
