According to reports received by the Karun Human Rights Organization, Seyed Alireza Mousavi, a 23-year-old protester, was killed at approximately 8:30 p.m. on January 9, 2026, on Basirat Street in Fooladshahr, Isfahan, after being shot directly by forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to informed sources, at the time of the incident Seyed Alireza Mousavi was alone on the street when a motorcycle carrying armed individuals stopped beside him. Witnesses report that after the motorcycle stopped, he sat on the ground, pulled the hood of his jacket over his head, and loudly pleaded:
“Please, for God’s sake, don’t shoot.”
Despite this, the attackers fired a shotgun equipped with a pellet spreader at his body from close range. According to the reports, approximately 50 pellets entered Seyed Alireza Mousavi’s body, some of which struck his spinal cord and heart, causing severe internal bleeding and resulting in his immediate death at the scene.
The body of this young citizen was handed over to his family on January 15, 2026. His burial was carried out under heavy security restrictions and without any possibility of public notification or mourning ceremonies.
The killing of Seyed Alireza Mousavi represents yet another case of the lethal and disproportionate use of force against unarmed civilians during recent protests, further intensifying concerns over violations of the right to life, impunity for perpetrators, and the systematic suppression of protesters.
