According to reports received by the Karun Human Rights Organization, more than nine people have been killed during the recent protests in Ma‘shur (Mahshahr).
Based on these reports, the identity of one of the victims has now been confirmed. Mohammad-Hossein Aman (Alboghbeish), was shot and killed by Islamic Republic security forces on Friday, January 8, after being hit directly in the heart. He was reportedly under 25 years old.
According to the information obtained, the victim’s body was handed over to his family only through intermediaries and after the family was forced to sign a written pledge. The family was also explicitly prohibited from holding any funeral.
Reports further indicate that the families of many other victims were likewise able to retrieve the bodies of their loved ones only after committing not to disclose information about the killings—a practice that is viewed as part of the ongoing security pressure exerted on the families of those killed during the protests.
