Release of Forough Khosravi, Teacher From Behbahan on 2-Billion-Toman Bail After Arrest by IRGC Intelligence

Forough Khosravi, a primary school teacher and resident of Arjan (Behbahan), was released from Sepidar Prison in Ahwaz on Saturday, August 8, 2025, after providing bail of 2 billion tomans. Khosravi, who holds a PhD in Education, is the mother of a seven-year-old child and had previously been targeted by security agencies for her activities.

According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), she was arrested on July 29, 2025, by agents of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization and was summoned the same day via telephone to the Behbahan Prosecutor’s Office. As of the time of this report, no official details about her charges or the reasons for her arrest have been announced.

Prior to her arrest, on June 20, six IRGC intelligence agents — including two women — entered her home without presenting a judicial warrant. The raid, which created a highly intimidating atmosphere, resulted in a full search of her residence and the confiscation of personal items, including her mobile phone. At the time, Khosravi’s daughter was present in the home, and the incident caused her significant fear and emotional distress.

Following this incident, Forough Khosravi filed a complaint against the agents involved in the raid. However, the investigating judge of Branch 2 of the Behbahan Prosecutor’s Office, Rouhollah Farzadnezhad, took a stance favoring the military body, issuing a ruling to dismiss the case and acquit the agents.

Khosravi had previously been expelled from Payam Noor University in Bandar Imam after the 2009 protests. Her recent release on such a heavy bail amount underscores the continued security and judicial pressure faced by civil and labor activists in Iran, while many similar cases remain shrouded in ambiguity and lack public transparency.
