A group of security and guarding workers employed by Marun Oil and Gas Company staged a protest outside the Khuzestan Governorate building in Ahwaz to protest poor working conditions and the failure to receive their outstanding financial entitlements.
According to reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization, the workers’ main demands include addressing repeated delays in the payment of wages, the failure to pay annual bonuses and seniority benefits, resolving problems related to insurance coverage, and improving their poor working conditions.
The workers emphasized that their basic and legally guaranteed employment rights have been disregarded by contractors, placing them under severe financial and economic pressure.
According to workers participating in the protest, this is the second time that security and guarding personnel of Marun Oil and Gas Company have gathered outside the Khuzestan Governorate to demand their rightful employment and financial entitlements. However, no clear response has so far been provided by provincial authorities or the company’s contractors to address these problems, and the continued disregard by responsible institutions for the workers’ demands remains unresolved.
The Karoon Human Rights Organization condemns the failure to address the lawful and livelihood-related demands of the security and guarding workers of Marun Oil and Gas Company, as well as the inaction of authorities and contractors in resolving their problems. The organization calls for the immediate consideration of the workers’ demands and full respect for their employment and legal rights.
