Security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrested more than 10 Sunni Arab citizens on Friday, September 4, 2026, after raiding a gathering in the Mosh’ali neighborhood of Ahwaz.
According to the Telegram channel Moj-e Ahwaz, the citizens had gathered at a friend’s home when intelligence agents surrounded the residence and assaulted those present before arresting several of them. The detainees were subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.
The identities of three of those arrested have so far been reported as follows:
• Razi Heydari, 50
• Hossein Heydari, 29
• Abdolhadi Asakereh, 30
Reports indicate that the detainees are residents of the Mosh’ali and Akhراس Asphalt neighborhoods of Ahwaz.
Several days after the arrests, no information has been made available regarding the charges against these individuals, the reasons for their detention, or their current place of custody. Concerns over their safety and well-being have consequently increased.
The Karoon Human Rights Organization condemns the arrests and calls for the immediate disclosure of the detainees’ whereabouts and legal status, as well as full respect for their legal rights.
The organization also calls for an end to security-based and violent measures against citizens and for the immediate release of those who have been detained solely for participating in a gathering.
