“Mokhtar Al-Boushoka” Ends Hunger Strike Following Promise of Transfer to Sheiban Prison

According to reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization, Mokhtar Al-Boushoka, an Ahwazi Arab political prisoner, ended his hunger strike on Thursday, September 24, 2026, after six days, following a promise from security officials that he would be transferred from Arak Prison to Sheiban Prison in Ahwaz.

Al-Boushoka had begun his hunger strike on Saturday, September 19, in protest against his transfer from Sheiban Prison to Arak Prison. Security officials have promised him that he will be returned to Sheiban in the coming days.

According to an informed source who spoke to the Karoon Human Rights Organization, the Ahwazi Arab political prisoner had previously described his transfer to Arak as unlawful, security-related, and retaliatory, and had demanded to be returned to Sheiban Prison. However, Al-Boushoka remains doubtful that the latest promise from security officials will be fulfilled. He considers it an attempt to bring his hunger strike to an end, particularly because, according to him, security officials have failed to honor their commitments in the past.
