Missile Casing Explosion in Ahwaz, Leaves One Dead and One Seriously Injured

According to reports received, on Thursday, September 3, 2026, the explosion of a missile casing at a scrap yard on 17th Street, located at the far end of the Malashieh district of Ahwaz, resulted in the death of an Arab citizen and the serious injury of another.

According to the reports, a man identified as Jamal, known as “Jamal Abadani,” a married father of one and the owner of the scrap yard, was cutting a missile casing for scrap when the remaining explosive material inside the casing detonated. He died at the scene.

Based on the available information, the explosive material remaining inside the missile casing may have been of a dual-stage type.

According to the Telegram channel Moj-e Ahwaz, Mehdi Heydari, son of Lafteh, who owns a flour-processing workshop and was present at the site at the time of the explosion, was also seriously injured.

The explosion severely damaged both of his eyes and caused extensive burns to various parts of his body, particularly his face, abdomen, arms, and legs.

Mehdi Heydari was initially transferred to Arya Hospital and subsequently to Khomeini Hospital in Ahwaz. He was later transferred to a hospital in Isfahan for further treatment. However, his relatives say that security agencies in Ahwaz are attempting to prevent him from continuing his medical treatment in Isfahan. His physical condition remains critical.

The Karoon Human Rights Organization expresses its deep sorrow over the death of Jamal Abadani and the severe injuries sustained by Mehdi Heydari. The organization condemns the failure to properly clear and secure areas and sites where remnants of explosive materials and wartime ordnance may remain.

The organization calls for Mehdi Heydari to be given immediate and unrestricted access to specialised medical care and continued treatment, without interference by security agencies.
