Identities of 9 Sunni Arab Citizens Arrested in Aboudeh Village, Ahwaz, Confirmed

According to reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization, on Thursday, September 10, 2026 (19 Shahrivar 1405), forces of the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC Intelligence) raided Aboudeh Village, located along the road connecting Hamidiyeh and Ahwaz, and arrested at least 10 Arab citizens, transferring them to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the organization, all of those arrested are followers of Sunni Islam, and their detention was reportedly carried out because of their religious beliefs and as part of a religiously motivated security operation.

The citizens, who are between 45 and 50 years old, were visiting a friend at a home in the village when security forces carried out the raid.

As of the publication of this report, the Karoon Human Rights Organization has confirmed the identities of nine of those arrested. All nine are married and heads of household:

  • Mostafa Cheldawi, resident of Ahwaz
  • Kamal Batrani, resident of Pardis, Ahwaz
  • Loghman Batrani, married and father of three sons, resident of Shahrak, Ahwaz
  • Hadi Beit-Sheikh-Ahmad (Abu Kamal), 55, married and father of four children, resident of Golestan, Ahwaz
  • Reza Sawari, married and father of three daughters, resident of Shahrak, Ahwaz
  • Khaled Gharbawi, married and father of two sons, resident of Shahrak, Ahwaz
  • Jafar Cheldawi, married and father of three sons, resident of Shahrak, Ahwaz
  • Ebrahim Hamdani, resident of Ahwaz
  • Ali Cheldawi, resident of Shahrak, Ahwaz

The Karoon Human Rights Organization is continuing to investigate and verify the identity of another citizen who was arrested during the raid.

Several days after their arrests, no reliable information has been obtained regarding the fate, place of detention, or health condition of these citizens. Their transfer to an undisclosed location and the lack of information about their situation have heightened the concerns of their families.

The Karoon Human Rights Organization condemns the detention of citizens on the basis of their religious beliefs and adherence to Sunni Islam. The organization calls for the immediate disclosure of the detainees’ place of detention, access to their families and legal counsel, and full respect for their legal and human rights.
