On the morning of Friday, February 13, 2026, a 40-year-old woman named “Sara Alizadeh“, a teacher from Ahwaz, was murdered in her shared home in the Ariashahr area of the city. She was killed by her husband, who stabbed her 39 times.
The incident occurred in the presence of the couple’s two children.
According to reports from human rights sources, the suspect, who is also a teacher, was arrested by police after committing the murder. His case is currently being reviewed by Criminal Court One in Ahwaz.
Sara Alizadeh’s mother stated that the severity of the wounds was so extreme that her daughter’s face was barely recognizable.
Reports indicate that the suspect had reviewed footage from surveillance cameras installed inside the home before carrying out the attack and had made the decision to commit the crime beforehand. However, no official details regarding the motive or any previous history of domestic violence have been released by judicial authorities.
This incident is categorized as a case of domestic violence and femicide. According to annual statistics published by the Statistics, Publication and Works Center of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, at least 115 cases of femicide and 179 cases of domestic violence were reported in the country in 2025.
During the same period, 63 cases of rape or sexual harassment, 11 so-called “honor killings,” 11 cases of severe physical assault, 8 acid attacks, and 1 case of self-immolation were also recorded.
