Execution of Two Prisoners Convicted of Murder in “Sepidar” Prison

In the early hours of Monday, 26 Aban 1404 (16 November 2025), the death sentences of two prisoners were carried out at Sepidar Prison in Ahwaz. Both had previously been sentenced to death in separate cases on charges of murder.

The identities of the two executed prisoners have been confirmed by the Iran Human Rights Organization as Hesam Rahimkhani, 45, from Falahieh (Shadegan), and Javad Moridan, 31, from Ahwaz.

According to reports, Rahimkhani was arrested about five years ago following a family-related conflict and later sentenced to death. Moridan was arrested roughly eight years ago on murder charges and received the death penalty from the Criminal Court.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant official bodies have not publicly confirmed the executions.

Annual data from the Center for Statistics, Publication, and Records of Iranian Human Rights Activists indicates that between 10 October 2024 and 8 October 2025, only about 5.86% of executions in Iranian prisons were officially announced, while over 94% were carried out secretly or without public disclosure. In many cases, prisoners were denied the right to a final meeting with their families.
