At dawn on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 (27 Aban 1404), a prisoner was executed on murder charges in Ma’shour city Prison. The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed as Heydar Tahmasebi.
According to the report by HRANA News Agency, Tahmasebi had previously been arrested and sentenced to death by a criminal court. As of the time of this report, neither prison officials nor responsible authorities have issued any official statement regarding the execution.
According to the annual statistics of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA), between 10 October 2024 and 8 October 2025, only 5.86% of executions in Iran were officially announced, while more than 94% were carried out secretly and without public notification. In many of these cases, prisoners were even denied their right to a final visit with their families.
