According to HRANA, in the early hours of Sunday, 2 Azar 1404 (Nov 23, 2025), a prisoner was executed in Dezful Prison. The identity of the executed individual has been confirmed as Mohammad Hossein Akbari, who had previously been sentenced to death for murder.
So far, no official authorities have publicly announced the execution.
According to the annual report of the Iran Human Rights Organization, the issuance and execution of death sentences in qisas (retribution) cases continues to rise. In 2024 alone, at least 419 people were executed for murder, marking a significant increase compared to previous years and making it the highest number of qisas executions since 2010.
