Early this morning, Sunday, November 29, 2025 (9 Azar 1404), a prisoner previously convicted of murder was executed in Dezful Prison.
According to HRANA, the executed prisoner has been identified as Kazem Moatamedi. Following his arrest on murder charges, he had been sentenced to death by a criminal court.
Despite the execution, as of this report, prison authorities and relevant officials have not issued any formal announcement regarding the event.
Annual statistics from the Center for Statistics and Publications of the Iranian Human Rights Activists’ Network indicate that between October 10, 2024, and October 8, 2025, at least 1,537 individuals were executed in Iranian prisons—a rise of approximately 86.07% compared to the previous year. However, only around 5.86% of these executions were officially reported, underscoring the persistent lack of transparency and the widespread secrecy surrounding the implementation of the death penalty in Iran.
