According to reports received by Karun Human Rights Organization, Habib Amouri, son of Abdolhanizl, who had been imprisoned at Sepidar Prison in Ahwaz since 2022, was executed on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
Informed sources stated that Amouri, a father of a young child and a resident of the Asieh-Abad neighborhood of Ahwaz, had previously been arrested on charges of premeditated murder and subsequently sentenced to death.
According to the annual statistical report published by the Statistics, Publications, and Documentation Center of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, at least 1,537 executions were recorded in Iranian prisons between October 10, 2024, and October 8, 2025. This figure represents the highest number of executions documented over the past decade and reflects a significant upward trend in the use of capital punishment. Compared to the previous year, when 823 executions were recorded, this marks an increase of more than 86.07 percent, and also exceeds the ten-year annual average by a considerable margin. A substantial proportion of these executions were related to drug-related offenses.
