In the early hours of Wednesday, 28 Aban (18 November 2025), the death sentence of a prisoner previously convicted on drug-related charges was carried out at Sepidar Prison in Ahwaz.

According to reports from HRANA news agency, the prisoner, Naser Haseli, was executed on Wednesday, 28 Aban (18 November 2025).

Haseli had previously been arrested for drug-related offenses and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

As of the time of this report, the execution had not been officially announced by prison authorities or relevant state institutions.

According to annual data compiled by the Center for Statistics, Publication, and Records of Iranian Human Rights Activists, from 10 October 2024 to 8 October 2025, more than 48% of executed individuals were sentenced for drug-related crimes. Over the past decade, those convicted of drug trafficking have consistently accounted for around 47% of all executions. These figures indicate no progress in reducing executions related to drug offenses during this period.
