According to information published by IranWire, Aria Sheikhi-Nasab, a civil activist and former political prisoner previously arrested during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests, was rearrested on January 25, 2026, at his father’s home in Masjed Soleyman.
Sheikhi-Nasab, born in 1996 and 29 years old, was transferred on January 29 to Sepidar Prison in Ahwaz, a facility widely known for poor detention conditions and serious human rights concerns, according to informed sources.
Reports indicate that the arresting authority was the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Although Sheikhi-Nasab is a resident of Tehran, he had traveled to his father’s home in Masjed Soleyman, in the Ahwaz region (Khuzestan) following the renewed protests.
Sources familiar with the case state that no clear or formal charges have been announced against him so far. Since his arrest, Sheikhi-Nasab has been allowed only one brief phone call with his family.
