A group of Ahwazi farmers gathered on Saturday, November 9, in front of the Ahwaz Water Authority building to protest water cuts and the violation of their agricultural water rights.
According to local sources, the farmers chanted slogans against water transfer policies and the authorities’ neglect of the drought crisis, demanding the implementation of water rights for the Karun and Karkheh rivers and the reopening of irrigation channels.
One of the protesters said: “We only want our rightful share of water — nothing more. Our lands have dried up, our livestock have died, and no one is taking responsibility.”
