Ahwazi Arab Civilian Killed by Direct Gunfire from IRGC Forces

According to reports received by the Karun Human Rights Organization, on the morning of Monday, 27 July 2026 , Abbas Khasraji, an Arab resident of the Seyed Karim (Ein Do) district of Ahwaz, was killed after being shot by military personnel stationed at a nearby military base.

The victim has been identified as Abbas Khasraji, 35, who was married and the father of two children.

The incident occurred on West 3rd Street along the Ahwaz–Hamidiyeh road, near his home. According to reports, Khasraji was collecting plastic scrap in the vicinity of an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military base when he was shot without prior warning.

Local sources and members of his family confirmed that at least one other person who was with him was also injured during the shooting.

Civil and human rights activists have described the incident as part of a recurring and deeply concerning pattern of the use of lethal force against civilians living near residential areas in Ahwaz. They argue that the use of live ammunition without prior warning against individuals engaged in ordinary daily activities represents a disproportionate use of force and constitutes a serious violation of the right to life.
