Reports received by the Karun Human Rights Organization indicate the disappearance of Mehrsa Maleki, a 20-year-old woman from Khormousa (Sarbandar), following her arrest by special police forces.
According to witnesses, Mehrsa was at a café in the Blokia area with her friends. After leaving the café, she was arrested along with several other protesters during public demonstrations by special police forces.
Eyewitnesses emphasize that at the time of her arrest, Mehrsa was subjected to severe violence and beatings, a scene witnessed by numerous citizens. According to these reports, a woman who attempted to intervene to prevent Mehrsa’s transfer and demanded an end to the violence was herself beaten. Despite this, Mehrsa was ultimately taken away from the scene by special police forces.
According to her family, following the arrest, an unknown number contacted Mehrsa’s mother. During the call, Mehrsa, in a distressed state, pleaded for help and said:
“Please come and take me, Mom. They’ve arrested me.”
After this call, the number was switched off, and since then there has been no information regarding her whereabouts or her condition.
Mehrsa’s mother has visited various institutions and official bodies but has stated that her daughter’s name is not registered with any authority, and she remains in a state of complete uncertainty regarding her fate.
It is worth noting that Mehrsa lost her father in previous years, has no siblings, and is the only child of her family.
These reports have raised serious concerns about arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, and violations of fundamental civil rights amid the recent protests.
