According to new reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization, Ali Chaldawi, a 13-year-old sixth-grade student who was arrested alongside his father on Thursday, 19 September 2026, during a raid by forces from the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC Intelligence) on the village of Aboudeh in Ahwaz, was released from Fajr Prison in Ahwaz on Monday, 30 September.
During the operation on 19 September, at least 12 Ahwazi Arab Sunni citizens were reportedly arrested on religious grounds and transferred to an undisclosed location.
According to the report, the security forces’ raid on Ali Chaldawi’s family home resulted in the arrest of both Ali and his father, Mostafa Chaldawi. The arrests took place as part of a wider wave of mass arrests along the road between Hamidiyeh and Ahwaz, during which Sunni Muslims were reportedly targeted.
Fajr Prison in Ahwaz, also known as the Ahwaz Juvenile Rehabilitation Center, is used to hold children and adolescents accused of offenses in Ahwaz.
The Karoon Human Rights Organization calls for the immediate release of the other detainees involved in this incident, the disclosure of their whereabouts, and information regarding their condition and fate.
