Exclusive footage obtained by the Karoon Human Rights Organization shows the moment of the arrest of Aref Nasseri, also known as Abunayef, a poet and cultural activist from Ahwaz, by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The video clearly depicts two vehicles belonging to the security forces, with plainclothes agents searching, confiscating, and transferring several electronic devices and tools from the home of this cultural activist into one of the vehicles. As of the time of this report, there is no clear information regarding the specific reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his location following detention, and efforts to ascertain his health status are ongoing.
Aref Nasseri’s arrest is part of a new wave of security crackdowns, summonses, and widespread detentions of Arab citizens and activists in recent weeks.
