Political Prisoner Mokhtar Al-Boushoke Ends Hunger Strike After Promises of Transfer to Sheiban Prison

According to reports received by the Karoon Human Rights Organization, Mokhtar Al-Boushoke, an Arab political prisoner from Ahwaz, ended his hunger strike on Thursday, September 24, 2023, after six days, following assurances from security officials regarding his transfer from Arak Prison back to Sheiban Prison in Ahwaz.

Al-Boushoke had initiated his hunger strike on Saturday, September 23, in protest against his transfer from Sheiban Prison to Arak Prison. Security officials have promised him that he will be returned to Sheiban in the coming days.

According to a source familiar with the situation, this Arab political prisoner previously deemed his transfer to Arak as illegal, security-driven, and retaliatory, and had demanded to return to Sheiban Prison. However, Al-Boushoke remains skeptical about the fulfillment of the new promises made by security officials, viewing them as an attempt to end his hunger strike, given that, in the past, security officials have failed to uphold their commitments.
