On Monday, 26 Aban (16 November 2025), Etemad newspaper published a report on the mysterious disappearance of two young girls in Abadan—cases that occurred in the same general area between late September and mid-November.
According to the report, Marzieh Albooghbish and Setareh Heidari went missing at night near Amiri Street, close to Shapur Park in the city.
Marzieh Albooghabish’s brother spoke about the disappearance of his 40-year-old sister, who went missing on 28 Shahrivar (18 September 2025):
“We have been searching for Marzieh for over 50 days. We have looked everywhere and filed a complaint with the police, but all we were told was to wait. They say the security camera footage has been reviewed, but no trace of her has been found.”
He dismissed the possibility of her having run away or being involved with someone familiar:
“There was no persistent suitor, nor was she in a relationship. If there had been anything suspicious, we would have reported it immediately.”
Setareh Heidari, 19, went missing on 15 Aban (5 November 2025) near Shapur Park. Her father explained:
“On the day of the incident, Setareh attended a mock university entrance exam and then went to Shapur Park with the family. She separated from us to go buy school supplies. According to the camera footage, she disappeared suddenly while returning. We called her at 10:30 p.m., but her phone was turned off after a single ring.”
Setareh’s father added:
“The footage shows a young man walking behind her on Amiri Street. The image is not very clear, but it seems Setareh noticed him and stepped aside. The young man passed, but later stopped again in another spot. At that moment, a vehicle appears nearby, seemingly picking up my daughter. The footage is not clear enough to confirm exactly what happened.”
The report suggests that both disappearances may involve multiple individuals and could even be part of a serial crime, heightening the families’ fears in Abadan. Police investigations have so far yielded no leads regarding the fate of the two girls.
