On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Iranian security forces arrested several Sunni citizens in the Malashieh neighborhood of southwestern Ahwaz.
According to information received, Aref Shamusi and Mohammad Badr, both Sunni activists from Ahwaz, were detained along with a number of other local residents. Security forces reportedly raided their homes, carried out searches, and seized personal property before transferring the detainees to an undisclosed location.
As of the time of publication, no official information has been provided regarding the detainees’ whereabouts, the charges brought against them, or their legal status. Their families remain without information, raising serious concerns about their safety and due process rights.
The Malashieh district has repeatedly been the site of public protests in recent years, and residents of the area have faced sustained and heightened security pressure.
Karun Human Rights Organization has expressed serious concern over these arbitrary arrests and has called on the authorities to immediately clarify the fate and legal status of those detained and to uphold their fundamental legal and human rights.
